Health decline among recent immigrants to canada: findings from a nationally representative longitudinal survey. The amount is growing: make sup 20% of the population. New immigrants have better health than native born canadians: however once they have lived in canada for a while. And matches that of native born canadians. Tested the healthy immigrant effect: they took 7716 immigrants aged 15 and older and measured their health. Were conducted in: english, french, chinese, punjabi, arabic, spanish, Which 93% of all immigrants speak: the average age of the immigrants was 35 years. India and china were the two major countries of immigration. After the four years: there was a decline in respondents" self reported health status. With significant changes in both mental and physical health. Six months after arriving to canada: four out of five immigrants reported having excellent health.
