Be able to explain the different types of evidence, and how they are used in each stage of the policy process. Understand the relationship between research and policy and some of the challenges. Be able to identify and explain some of the ways in which both researchers and policy makers could take actions to improve the relationship. Fads in health promotion coming in and out at ridiculous rate. For the most part people will believe the majority of information they are exposed to. Issue when people on positions in power being swayed by information that isn"t supported by evidence. Need to place more importance on evidence. Evidence: any form of knowledge, including but not confined to research, of sufficient quality to be used to inform decisions. Research: a systematic process for generating new knowledge and relating it to existing knowledge in order to improve understanding: a lot of different types of research.
