Lecture 9b - diffusion of innovation theory ii. Adoption of a product isn"t necessarily behaviour change, but behaviour itself can be a product that"s being diffused: before adoption. Bolded = considered the most important/key characteristics. Must have some sort of benefit, whether they"re real, actual or perceived. There must be direct benefits of innovation. My fitness pal is easier to use which means you"ll be more motivated. Communication should be clear, and learning should be easy. If it"s easy to learn and master, it"s also easy for the person to be persuaded into doing it. The key is to appear as not costing too much. If something is free, people may think that there is a catch and wonder where their data gets stored. Perceptions of the value of online education. It may touch base w/ knowledge, but is primarily persuasion. You are trying to persuade the person that is compatible with their culture and daily lifestyle.
