Lecture 10a - from theory to practice i. It takes an entire generation for research to be implemented into practice. A lot of research cannot follow the rct procedure. In 2006, the budget was 99 billion dollars. Trillion was spent on health care overall. Problems lie in how we choose to spend funding. Not many people want to publish replication studies. We want to communicate quickly and effectively with others in our field, but we don"t only interact w/ others in our field. Experts were tasked with connecting this knowledge - but doesn"t solely focus on this. It is important to partner with clinicians specifically in the field of public health. Clinical knowledge is important, which is sometimes neglected when studies are being developed. It is important to listen to the participant and what they want. Begin with knowledge translation and getting the knowledge into the real world - tailor the message to the audience.
