Optic ataxia- results of lesion to dorsal stream (ppc) Important interface associated with the dorsal steam that translates sensory info into motor response. A. t: no difficulty perceiving size, shape, orientation, identity of an object- no perceptual deficit. Cannot use vision in order to reach out and grasp an object. Difficulty integrating visual feedback to modify an ongoing response. Misreaching deficit but only in right peripheral visual field. Object in left peripheral vf- no difficulty. Right visual field- if looking directly at object no evidence of optic ataxia- not perfect like an intact person. Optic ataxia can be specific: even though she has bilateral lesions, only shows a profound ataxia for objects in right vf. Some people with optic ataxia has misreaching in both vf"s. Important to clinically assess because i. g drives- b/c its only peripheral she can just move her head around .
