Kinesiology 1080A/B Lecture 19: Kin lecture 19 - March 3
Document Summary
Study: (first study to use tms in relation to movement; demonstrates that the cortical structures related to moving are the same as the actual movement: a and b: visual imagery of an expanding and shhrink9ng bar respectively (control) C and d motor imagery of forearm extension and flexion respectively (just thought a(cid:271)out it did(cid:374)(cid:859)t do it) E: meps in the two experimental conditions: gray bars = extension, black bars = flexion, really big different between thinking about a task vs watching a shrinking bar . Contralateral tms application motor imagery when you think about a task engages the same cortical structures as if you were performing the task (your brain is preparing yourself to move) Study: (pointing study: when you give someone two stimuli to move they are faster than if they have one stimuli. In spite of the lack of awareness their reaction times were shorter when given two fixation points.
