Spatial numerical association of response codes (SNARC
effect)
- SNARC effect is mostly for people who are
english or spanish speakers, who
have a mental numerical number line (horizontal,
left to right)
- Have an individual look at a computer monitor,
experimenter will flash numbers
on the left or the right of a fixation cross. People
will have a shorter reaction time for the 1 on the
left side instead of the 8 because 1 is early in the
list than 8. (1...8)
- On the right, presenting the 8 has shorter
reaction time.
- All about alignment and your internal number
line.
- Low numbers are associated with short reaction
times when they are presented
on the left, higher numbers are associated with
short reaction times when they are presented on
the right
1.
- People will move quicker when there is a spatial stimulus between the
numbers, this (SNARC) effects manifests both fir reaction and
movement times
- SNARC effect also allows us to figure out where the internal number
line exists.
- Transcranial magnetic stimulation (form of
neurotransmission):

Spatial numerical association of response codes (snarc effect) Snarc effect is mostly for people who are english or spanish speakers, who have a mental numerical number line (horizontal, left to right) Have an individual look at a computer monitor, experimenter will flash numbers on the left or the right of a fixation cross. People will have a shorter reaction time for the 1 on the left side instead of the 8 because 1 is early in the list than 8. (18) On the right, presenting the 8 has shorter reaction time. All about alignment and your internal number line. Low numbers are associated with short reaction times when they are presented on the left, higher numbers are associated with short reaction times when they are presented on the right. People will move quicker when there is a spatial stimulus between the numbers, this (snarc) effects manifests both fir reaction and movement times.
