Class size, group cohesion, physician influences, past family influences, social support from friends and peers, social support from spouse and family, social support from staff and instructor. Critical factors: spousal support, social support network creation. Climate and season, cost, disruptions in routine, access to facilities (perceived and actual), home equipment. Critical factors: location (proximity to home or work) Intensity, duration, frequency, perceived effort, group program, leader qualities. Critical factors: discomfort during exercise (moderated by past history), group exercising, appropriate leadership.
