Health and fitness: myriad of benefits associated with regular physical activity, health and/or fitness, cardiovascular and/or resistance training, overlap between modalities and benefits. Training guidelines and principles apply to both types of training for most apparently healthy individuals interested in total body health and fitness: specificity, fitt, overload, individualization, warm-up, reversibility and maintenance, recovery. Specificity: characteristics trained will be the characteristics which show gains/adaptations, aerobic training, adaptations associated with cv health and endurance, resistance training, adaptions associated with muscular strength and power, some overlap, but some unique-> do both. # of repetitions: intensity: how hard is the exercise, aerobic training: (hr, rpe, power, usually based off % of max. heart rate. Overt time the more ppl train the lower their max hr will be: max hr. estimations* Ex: participant warms up w/ self-selected load that will allow them to complete min. Participants select a weight based which allows them to perform 3 reps (~80% predicted 1rm).
