Knowledge translation: a dynamic and iterative process. Knowledge mobilization: synthesis, dissemination, exchange, application, goal to provide more effective practices, products and services. Why: moving scientific knowledge into practice, evidence to practice, connecting knowledge genera/on with utilization e. g. clinicians using evidence-based practices. 96% used interventions with absence of evidence on effectiveness: there was no knowledge of evidence for the practice they were including. Barriers: time, resources, available evidence, access to evidence, library literacy (i. e. skills to locate the evidence, challenges with interpretation, appraisal and application, lack of incentives to change practice, publication bias, language. Ex. taking lab rat results and translating it into clinical research taking the clinical research to the public. Implementation science: research utilization, communication, knowledge management, commercialization, transfer, technology, bench-to-bedside, traditional research, making money off ideas. Synthesis: context & integration, reproducible & transparent, know what was done, how it was done and can we do it again.
