Today: qualitative research reports, research presentation in the media. Learning outcomes: 1) describe features of qualitative research reports 2) explain media framing of research 3) Compare and contrast 3 forms of scientific (eg. quantitative, qualitative, media) Characteristics: writer is a guide" for the reader. Assisting readers to navigate through unfamiliar concepts and relationship between idea, or see familiar concepts and relationships in a new way. Explaining things explicitly to the reader, navigate the reader without interpretation: reflective process. Writing is a reflective process and contributes to the data interpretation. Components: abstract, <300 words, brief summary of: Overall objective of the research including paradigm and methodology. Summary of findings and interpretation: formatting depends on journal guidelines. Eg. constructivist and grounded theory- paradigm and methodology included, and implications for the future: introduction. Introduce the premise of the research: frames what will follow, lens (philosophy of research) Paradigm, methodology through a post-positivist lens etc. speaks to methodology.
