Document Summary

2 compartments in arm fascia that separates them anterior and posterior. Known for biceps muscle: superficial, large muscle belly. Biceps muscle doesn"t attach to humerus, crosses bone and acts on both joints: 2 origins, long head- supraglenoid tubercle (runs along bicipital groove, short head- coracoid process of scapula. I: radial (bicipital) tuberosity not in arm, crosses arm and is on radial bone, points toward medial side of bone, attachment for biceps muscle. Function: flex shoulder, flexes elbow, powerful supinator because it attaches to radius, when contracted holds radius in place, in pronation, cross radius over top of ulna, relax biceps. Brachialis- deepest, most powerful elbow flexor: o: from humerus. I: ulnar tuberosity: hand in pronated position, loose muscle belly, muscle relaxes. Triceps (3 heads: longhead crosses shoulder joint, extends more proximally elbow extension. O: infraglenoid tubercle: other 2 heads named by positon of humerus, lateral head and medial head originate on posterior humerus, all three come down towards muscle belly.
