Document Summary

Muscles of the pectoral girdle & upper limbs. Web of nerves located around the subclavian space space just under the clavicle. Nerve plexuses multiple plexuses occur in the body, entanglement of nerves. Shoulder girdle = scapula + clavicle: anterior. Subclavius moves the clavicle, underneath the clavicle, attaches from the underside of the clavicle to the first rib. Contraction pulls the clavicle down and strengthens the clavicle to hold it in place. Pectoralis minor attaches from rib 3-6, and on the scapula it attaches to the coracoid process. Functionally it will abduct the scapula by trying to pull it to the front of the body away from the midline. Picture your hands on someone"s back (as the scapula) and it would run underneath your palms. Function is to keep the scapula tight to the back by contracting it, it holds the subscapular fossa tight to the rib cage.
