Kinesiology 2222A/B Lecture Notes - Lecture 8: Brainstem, Weight-Bearing, Transverse Plane
Document Summary
Acts as a protective barrier for the spinal column. Ability of the muscles to move bone that gives us our mobility. Can see the curves appearance of vertebral column from sagittal view. Not a stable structure but allows us to be very mobile. Nerve that runs all the way down - tailbone. Cervical curvature: forms after birth o o o o o o o o o o o o o o o o o o o o. Until muscles properly form in the cervical region to form vertebrae and form secondary cervical curvature. When child starts to walk, muscles are fully developed and form lumbar curvature. Exaggeration in lumbar curvature when children start walking, especially in young females. Lordosis: exaggeration of the lumbar curvature - enhanced curvature. Muscles are pulling too tight on one side and too lax on the other.
