Kinesiology 2230A/B Lecture Notes - Lecture 4: Calcium Atpase, Endoplasmic Reticulum, Atp Hydrolysis
Document Summary
Spinal cord injuries: spinal cord has a little bit of protection. Lesion in the cervical area anything downstream from that injury, it would be impossible for the spinal cord to be innervated: because the lesion is high, you will lose function of the whole body. Lesion in the thoracic area will have function in the arms only. Lesion in lumbar area lower back function and some function of legs. Lesion in sacrum area losing a little bit of function in the legs. Triad: t-tubule and sr: a triad is the structure formed by a t-tubule with a sarcoplasmic reticulum (sr) known as the terminal cisternae on either side of the t-tubule. March 20th, 2017: on both sides of a t-tubule are dilated end sacs of the sr called terminal cisternae, a t-tubule, together with its two terminal cisternae, is called a muscle triad. Atpase pump: most of the atp is used in muscle contraction.
