Document Summary

Is the reference position for the human body as agreed by anatomists, biomechanics, doctors, etc. Basic position so you can describe your movements. How you are laying when you are dead how they came up with it. For segment motion, the anatomical position may not be convenient for your analysis. Can define neutral positon where ever you want have to define clearly were it is from anatomical postion. For each joint or body position, you decided what the neutral position is. This is the segment or joint position where the angle is defined as zero degree. A plane is an imaginary, perfectly flat surface. We can imagine 3 passing through the human body, each at right angles to each other (ie. mutually orthogonal) Sagittal plane: plane of symmetry runs straight through middle of body, divides midline, any motion parallel to plane of body. Frontal plane: front and the back divided, also know as coronal plane, ab and ad duction.
