Kinesiology 2241A/B Lecture Notes - Lecture 12: Serratus Anterior Muscle, Supraspinatus Muscle, Upper Extremity Of Humerus
Document Summary
The upper e(cid:454)tre(cid:373)it(cid:455) is also k(cid:374)o(cid:449)(cid:374) as (cid:862)the ar(cid:373): There are 5 joints that we will consider: The glenoid the glenoid fossa is a shallow depression in the lateral scapula it is ringed by the rotator cuff made up of the tendons of the muscles that mobilize and stabilize the joint. Builds up fossa with cartilage tears can break down soft tissue rotator cuff soft tissue and tendons from bunch of muscles formed together joint capsule looser but tougher than other joints. Sits infraspinatus, supraspinatus, teres minor, subscapularis. Each of the 4 muscles of the rotator cuff has significant force components that stabilize the humeral head in the glenoid fossa (ie. push it into the depression) Diagonal arrow direction muscle pulls in. Other 3 down (adduction) stabilizing or dislocating axis generally horizontal clavicle pushes outwards supraspinatus up (abduction) Pure motion have to balance forces of muscles in the front and the back.
