Others?) assumptions about how sports and pa should "normally" happen and why that is. Why some people might not share those assumptions. In 2018 in canada (and most other countries) Dominant assumptions about what makes meaningful, good, "normal" sports (physical skill, training, organization, competition) But what if some people disagree, and prefer another definition or practice? (this happens! What if it happens in your future professional environment?) In that case, for us in sport sociology, the dominant definition isn"t broad enough. If we want to understand the entire range of meaningful definitions and activities (even though they may not be dominant) So there may be several different definitions not all of which much be dominant. Groups in society argue/ debate/ struggle over those definitions. As an outcome of these contestations, definitions of legitimacy may change --> social constructions. Definition may change over time/ or they stay the same for a period of time.
