Path goal theory of leader effectiveness: focuses on. The most effective path to those goals. Propositions of the path goal theory: leadership is supplemental. It is most necessary when there is a lack of motivation in the organizational context in which members operate: motivational effect of leadership is a function of the particular situation, which consists of: Demands (what should the leader be doing in these situations: the situations, and individuals matter, leadership will be different depending on the situation. Fundamental concept in motivating people: position powers (comes with your position in the organization) Giving them a title with legit power over someone because of their position. In a position to be able to reward someone, or be able to take away the reward. Using the position in a negative way to influence them into doing something they may not want to do: personal powers. Authority of an individual based on the knowledge and expertise that they have.
