Kinesiology 3339A/B Lecture Notes - Lecture 1: Performance-Enhancing Substance, Glycogen, Nutraceutical
Document Summary
Lecture 1: milo of croton 6th bc he would carry the calf everyday and as the calf grew bigger and bigger, milo was also growing bigger and bigger. He was gradually increasing his weight every day and the slow increase allowed his body to adapt and recover from the stress. Ergogenic means the intended increase of performance and how it benefits and improves performances. Study 1: looked at the initial muscle glycogen, the time to exhaustion, and the 3 different diets that were eaten. This represents that the more cho you eat, the longer time for the muscle to fatigue, the more muscle glycogen you have in the muscle, so it takes longer to fatigue that muscle. Study 2: looked at the influence of dietary cho on muscle glycogen stores during repeated days of training. When there was a low cho diet, muscle glycogen declined while cho rich diet was able to return to glycogen baseline every day.
