Kinesiology 3347A/B Lecture 8: G & D- Chapter 8
Document Summary
Growth and development- chapter 8: development of ballistic skills. Ballistic skills: performer applies force to an object and projects it ex) throwing, kicking, striking etc. Forms: underhand (one or two hand, sidearm, overarm (one or two hand) There are 2 ways to asses it: product measures (outcome): accuracy, distance, ball velocity, process measures (movement pattern): developmental sequence. Mostly arm action elbow pointed up throw executed by elbow extension alone no step excessive trunk flexion. Characteristics: thrower uses preparatory windup (weight shifts and trunk rotates back, arm swings) thrower uses opposite leg, long step and differentiated (trunk doesn"t rotate all at the same time, parts rotate at different times) trunk rotation. Upper arm and forearm lag (arm trails behind the trunk rotation) Trunk action: none, and no forward or backward movements, block rotation trunk all rotates at the same time, differentiated rotation pelvis leads, then the rest follows at different times.
