What makes a good typer: keyboard layout, hand-eye coordination are you a looker? (automaticity, knowledge of key placement. Tried typing a sentence with a normal and backwards keyboard: a lot longer time to type the sentence when flipped didn"t finish it. Take away learning and unlearning is possible. Takes longer for someone older to learn: positive transfer: what is learned in one context enhances learning in a different setting, ex. 6-12 yo"s must learn to read and write. Study of infant/early childhood temperament is grounded in trait theory: extraversion: active, assertive, outgoing, agreeableness: affectionate, forgiving, generous, trusting, conscientiousness: efficient, organized, responsible, neuroticism: anxious, tense, worrying, openness/intellect: artistic, curious, imaginative. From age 6-12, children"s understanding of themselves improves quite a bit and, by the end of the middle childhood period, children"s self-concepts include two new components: a psychological self & a valued self: the psychological self.
