Over 100 types of diseases where inflammation of joints occur, 85% of people with arthritis has osteoarthritis. Definition of osteoarthritis oa results from deterioration of cartilage and thickening of the bones underneath, in one or more joints. Sites (knees and hips that are mainly weight bearing synovial joints, but also often the spine, wrists). Myth = it is not a normal characteristic with aging, it is more common with aging, but it is not a normal part of aging. It is chronic and there is no cure for arthritis. Percentage of people with arthritis is trending: women are more likely to have arthritis than men, rural is more likely because they are less likely to access preventative healthcare means they are. In the younger years it is quite equal, but as women age it is more common for women to have arthritis.
