Kinesiology 3550A/B Lecture Notes - Lecture 3: Cellular Respiration, Sympathetic Nervous System, Human Factors And Ergonomics
Document Summary
Lecture 3: heavy work physiological factors in ergonomics. If we design a task for the worker, we want to make sure that it does not fatigue the worker. If they get tired they may hurt themselves or others. If they are getting fatigued, their productivity goes down and management/ownership will not be happy. Goal is to design a task that works for the whole fitness population. Physiological factors are used in the design and assessment of risk for the development of recommendations. Physiology also helps the ergonomist evaluate physical job requirements as they relate to human capabilities. Physiological factors are considered in the development of several ergonomic assessment tools such as. Mital tables - a guide to manual materials handling (mital, nicholson and ayoub, 1993) Also help to form the basis for energy expenditure assessment tools such as the university of michigan. Energy expenditure prediction program (garg, a. , chaffin, d. b. , and herrin, 1978).
