The prefrontal cortex is responsible for executive function. Decision making, planning, personality and conflict resolution / response inhibition. Why teenagers / kids have poorer decision-making skills. Neuroplasticity: re-organization or strengthening of synaptic connections in specific neural circuits as a result of experience. Places that are used frequently re-organize to have faster synaptic transmission. When we are young synaptic connections are consistently made and as we age. We used to thi(cid:374)k after (cid:272)hildhood the (cid:271)rai(cid:374) (cid:272)ould(cid:374)"t (cid:272)ha(cid:374)ge not true. Other misconceptions are that the brain is not active all the time and is silent at rest. Neuroplasticity: every time you learn a new fact or skill you change your brain. Chemical: increases concentrations of signaling, to improve short term memory. Structure: during learning connections can change, long-term memory.
