Define what is meant by biomedical engineering. Describe the roles biomedical engineers play in the health care delivery system. Biomedical engineers have assisted in the struggle against illness and disease by providing tools (biosensors, biomaterials, image processing and artificial intelligence) that health care professionals can use for: research. Interface bw engineers, biologists, scientists, physicians: diagnosis, can help w detection of diseases, with technology, can detect subtle changes, treatment, once we have identified a disease, we can treat it. Biosensors if you had a contact lens that could measure ur blood sugar level. Artificial intelligence: machine learning/large data set, we can have patients equipt with wearable technology and monitor them all the time, monitor their range of motion. Many of the problems confronting health care professionals today involve the fundamental aspects of the device and system analysis, design and practical application.
