Ob is used in management departments to find out weather they help meet real-world challenges: ex: an ob study may explore the relationship between learning and job performance. Human resource management: takes theories and principles studies in ob and explores the application of those principles in organizations: ex: a human resources management study might examine ways to structure training programs to promote employee learning. The role of management theory: over time, ideas about how to best organize, coordinate and manage human work activities have changed, as have our view of cause-effect relationships. Classical management - put heavy emphasis on specialization, coordination, and efficiency: classical management scholars: frederick taylor - use research and science to examine employees and ensure they were efficient. They would also try to add in rest breaks at particular times to ensure the employees were not fatigued.
