Dr. henry morgentaler: performed abortions when they were illegal (akin to murder could be sent to life in prison) Performed many abortions openly and brazenly and was charged with murder by government. Prosecuting attorney presented evidence to jury, and the doctor admitted this, but protested the law, saying it was unfair and stupid. Jury still found him not guilty; attorney appealed and got the verdict reversed. Dr. morgan appealed the decision on the basis that the appeals court acted inappropriately in reversing the verdict (since the jury, made of his peers, found him not guilty), and the supreme court agreed with him.
