We know from last week that there are numerous barriers to practicing ebmgt. These barriers have created a divide or a gap between academia/research and practice. Rynes et al. (2002) surveyed hr practitioners with respect to their beliefs about research findings. Topics included motivation, leadership, recruitment, selection, training, etc. Of 5,000 hr managers, directors, and vps sampled, 959 responses were received. Hr practitioners" knowledge of research findings varies by company but, overall, knowledge appears to be lacking. In particular, practitioners placed little faith in intelligence tests and personality inventories. The only periodical that respondents read more than sometimes hr magazine. Fewer than 2% of respondents usually read journal of applied psychology, personnel psychology, and academy of management journal(research-oriented journals) To receive assistance with hr problems, practitioners commonly turn to other hr professionals and websites. Develop handbooks of research translations for practicing managers. Create knowledge sources that are trustworthy and accessible to managers.
