Wide range of factors: income, employment, working conditions, housing, education, compared with those at the top (administrators) Evidence supports that difference in health status not due to individual differences but nutrition, stress and violence. Economic and social conditions that influence health. Determine if we are healthy or become ill. Determines the extent a person(s) have the physical, social and personal resources to identify/achieve personal aspirations, satisfy needs and cope with the environment. About the quality/quantity of resources society makes available to its members.
