A patient-centered, team-based approach to health care delivery that synergistically maximizes the strengths and skills of each contributing health professional to optimize the quality of patient care . The interprofessional competencies: interprofessional communication, patient/client/family/community-centered care, role clarification, team functioning, collaborative leadership, interprofessional conflict resolution. Ip collaborative practice can be achieved by overcoming three elements, which act as barriers to collaborative practice: organized structuralism, power imbalance, role socialization. There are two kind of power imbalances; role conflict and goal conflict. These occur when members unequally exercise their power within the capacities of their roles and in planning health care. In order for true ip collaborative practice to occur, these power imbalances need to be resolved among all members of the group. Hard to get one class of students together. Lack of a clearly stated, shared, and measureable purpose. Lack of appropriate mechanisms for timely exchange of information. Lack of framework for problem discovery and resolution.
