Therapeutic relationships: nature of the nurse-client relationship is unique, healing relationship, all about the client. Every interaction with a client we take away something different: reflection. It is a partnership that results in the client"s growth: we support what client wants in their health. A therapeutic relationship is a professional, interpersonal alliance the nurse and client join together for a defined period to achieve health-related treatment goals (arnold, 2011) Clients reported to be better after therapeutic relationships. Self awareness and ability to reflect is a prerequisite. Our use of self is the most important. Tr: helper responsible for conduct of relationship & boundary setting, specific purpose health related goal, relationship ends- there is a beginning, middle and end, focus on the helpee, relationship by necessity. Goal as a nurse, necessarily are a choice: self-disclosure by helper is limited, understanding put into words.
