Legislative responsibilities/obligations: prevent any harm from happening in the workplace. Respond: sncit conversation, risk assessment, safety planning, monitoring. Reference: policy, local experts, internal teams/support. Happens across all social classes sin all types of workplaces. Perpetrators can be in positions of power. Sexual: threats, force used for sexual acts. Emotional: humiliation, threats to children, pets. They need to be supported and encouraged to seek help. There is recent research that helps us make sense of conflicting statistics. Domestic violence 3 types: situational couple violence, most common/ arguments escalate to violence, coercive control, abusive partner controls and coerces, pattern of behaviour, violence resistance. 3: victim of coercive control fights back. One third had experienced dv in their lifetime. Domestic violence is considered workplace violence- ontario ohsa. 40% had a hard time getting to work. 81. 8 % dv had a negative impact on performance. Corrective action to prevent accidents or injuries. If charged under ohs legislation: exercised due diligence= not guilty.
