Recognize the hazards of immobility and preventative nursing interventions: u(cid:374)dersta(cid:374)d the (cid:272)o(cid:373)pli(cid:272)atio(cid:374)s of fra(cid:272)tures a(cid:374)d the (cid:374)urse"s role i(cid:374) prevention. Reflect on the lived experience of the client with a hip fracture and understand the health teaching and health promotion needs of an individual experiencing fracture correction, and joint replacement surgery. Sometimes a 3rd degree sprain can be worse than a broken bone (pain, healing time) Can result in an avulsion fracture, subluxation, dislocation, or hemarthrosis: avulsion fracture = ligament pulls loose a fragment of bone, hemarthrosis = bleeding into a joint space or cavity. Sprains type 2 ligament is partially cut type 3 worst; ligament is severed completely. Stretching & warm up exercises: slow stretching, warming up muscles important: use elastic support or adhesive wrapping to support a weak/previous injured joint. Ice (first 24 - 48 hr); heat 48 hrs on, (20 min max).
