Reading #1: using personal narrative to deepen emotional awareness of practice. Storytelling is intrinsic to human beings and stories can explain events and actions. Has to have a plot (beginning, middle, and end), characters, allies, connections, May be described to some as an account of an event but to the storyteller or writer it. Nature of stories & how these can be reviewed is a story. How stories come into being w/o questions. Emotional aspects of stories: emotional learning from stories is powerful and can give rise to learning that is both transferable and reflective. Showing progression or change: they can be a means to explore difficult experiences, each story generates new questions which can lead to (cid:498)meaning-making(cid:499) Story-writing can help nurses to engage with and organise clinical experiences, make connections between the experiences and respond to them in a meaningful way. Reading #2: moral courage: a step beyond patient advocacy.
