Week 8: ontario regulated health professions legislative framework. The regulated health professions act (1991: umbrella law for all the health professions. Two elements: scope of practice statement for each professiom controlled acts authorized to the profession. Each of these will have their own act what nursing can do, how they can do. Informed by the regulated health professions act (rhpa) Sets out in detail how nursing will self-regulate, according to the rules and regulations in the rhpa: amendments made in may 2017 rn prescribing & np scope. This is under rhpa: what nursing can do/who puts them into play determines who governs us. Every profession must follow and enact the law. The expanded nursing services for patients act (1995: allows registered nurses who hold an extended certificate of registration to provide primary health care services. Expanded the scope of advanced practice nurses (nps) by allowing them to perform certain controlled acts.
