The ontological argument for the existance of god: some history and some language, anselm of canterbury, scholar and theologian, "argument" Argument has at least 2 meanings: verbal argument, a reasoned support of given idea. Arguments in the first sense usually involve arguments in the second sense: "ontological" Is an argument in the second sense- reasoned support for the idea that god exists. Back and forth tussle with anselm and gaunilo. Means having to do with being or having to do with existence. Onto comes from the present participle of the geek verb to be. The being argument: digression on sasquatches: definition and existence. Large, hairy, gorillas like creature inhabiting the mountains of the west coast of north america, and preferring to avoid contact with humans.
