Imagine life without the state and political power. Worst scenario: no state protection: any state is better than no state. Powerful state is needed to avoid disastrous interpersonal conflict. Felicity (happiness: being successful and getting what you want. Power: need power to get what you want, using present means to obtain future goods. Seek to enhance reputation: more likely to get what you want. Equally vulnerable, equally able: no one is wonder woman or superman. Scarcity no one would have incentive to produce. Uncertainty everyone else is a potential threat. Glory: attack for reputation: source of power, to be alive is to seek power (cid:498) continual fear, and danger of violent death; and the life of man, solitary, poor, nasty, brutish, and short. (cid:499, hobbes, leviathan. Natural right of liberty: natural right of liberty/ right of nature. Liberty and freedom of each individual to do whatever deems necessary to survive. Right to freedom of other peoples bodies.
