Document Summary
Chinese capitalist reforms - what is the year. Party systems: relatively stable pattern of relationships amongst parties. # of parties, size of parties, and usual way of relating to each other. After the second world war in italy the christian democrats could not speak to the opposing party, an unpolarized system - this encouraged parties to act differently than they normally would. Parties also respond to the competitive cues coming from the party system. Same party would develop different programs based on the party system that it founded itself in. Parties are 1 vs. 1 and the voters are in the centre of the political spectrum. They gravitate towards the centre to win over independent voters. They will be more inclined to resolve internal disputes because they can win a majority. Party system changes the behaviour of the unit entirely. Coalition government is likely, they are comfortable they are going to win 15%-20% of the vote.
