Do you agree: collective identities fluctuate whereas individual identities do not, analogy is that a nation"s identity is like an individual"s identity. Irredentism: advocating for the restoration to their country of any territory formally belonging to them: yes it does threaten peace and can encourage ethnic cleansing. Secession merely proliferates the arenas in which the problem of intergroup political accommodation must be faced and often more starkly (p. 9). Is it persuasive: horowitz is saying that secession may not actually solve the problem of minorities being unhappy, it just increases the places where the problems of the minority must be faced. I agree with the idea behind it, but in practice i think that it would not work and is not actually feasible.
