Nothing wrong with muscles or motor cortex. Can"t make sense of what sense are happening. **prosopagnosia -- can"t decipher faces yet everything else works. Can"t recognize faces. (damage in under part of brain, association area problem) Broca"s aphasia - difficulty in stringing words together. Results from damage (stroke) to right hemisphere (p&t) Can"t pay attention to left side (of damage on right side of brain) Almost always visual -- rarely damage to left side of brain. Cutting corpus callosum (usually done for epilepsy) Only very few problems that rarely occur. Left visual field goes to right ocibel. Right visual field goes to left ocibel. Need to be right handed and looking at fixation point and quick flashes. Genes (dna) rna protein molecules (sequences of amino acids) Genes determine range of possibilities, but not degree of expression. Environmental exposure at specific interval is critical. E. g. white-crowned sparrow must hear adult song between 7th and 60th day.
