Kenneth waltz, why iran should get the bomb: nuclear balancing. Why, according to kenneth waltz, will economic sanctions not work against. Sanctions would make iran feel even more vulnerable than they already do and would give it more reason to seek nukes. Breakout capacity is the ability to build and test a nuke very quickly, so you can weaponize fast. Waltz believes it is likely to happen again however those who disagree with him argue that iran is an exception because they are not rational like waltz believes them to be. Instead, they are hell-bent on destroying israel and america and may be suicidal in their desire to do so. On the grounds that their stated ambition is death to america and they are willingly starving their population in order to attain nuclear weapons. Waltz argues, however, that they show no propensity for self-destruction and are therefore still rational.
