Local government includes municipaliies and all other government eniies with territories smaller than provinces, their own governing bodies and some capacity for autonomous decision making. Disinct legal eniies: incorporated through legislaion, however no consituional regulaions, authority granted through provincial legislaions. Governing body: controlled by a governing body typically local ciizens. Access to public money: taxes, user fees. Decision-making authority: in at least one are of policy making within deined jurisdicion. Deined territory: people within territory are automaically under governance of that body. Council is the board of directors, mayor is chair. Incorporaion is granted by the province: province been taking more intervenionist approach, forced restructuring through amalgamaion, etc. Single-ier municipality with exclusive authority over deined territory: i. e. separated ciies and amalgamated ciies, city of london surrounded by middlesex county, but completely independent administraively.
