Passes laws/policies within majority of parliament votes: executive: Senate: amends, rejects, approves bills passed by house of commons. Senators appointed by governor general by recommendation of pm. Issue: spend lots of time examining bills and investigations into memb. Any law senate wants to create needs to be approved by hoc: pm: leader of majority party. Judges of the courts: federal court, provincial court: House of commons: introduces new bills and policies. Trustee model: legislators use their own vest judgment to decide what is best. Delegate model: vote the way their constituents tell them too. Party discipline elected party memb will vote with their party. Party whip: sr, memb appointed by party leader. Whipped vote: pm urges whole party to vote 1 way. Judicial review: to rule on the constitutionality of laws. Freedoms: crown: supposed to be queen as official head of state represented by governor general appointed by pm ceremonial position. Confidence votes: party votes with confidence in the pm.
