Features of philosophical soul: can grasp that which is always and in the same way, the philosophical soul can grasp eternal truth. In no way mean or cowardly: without falsehood; hate falsehood and love the truth, has no sign of illiberality (small-mindedness) Cities must have philosophical rulers or it will fail. Treeness there is a single, universal overarching concept or form of a tree: all existing trees are imperfect examples of the singular perfect form. Everything that exists has a universal concept to which it corresponds. The good is the form of all forms the world in its perfection. For the working class, good is pleasure. For the people who are somewhat enlightened, good is prudence (wisdom, having appropriate thoughts)
