Reading: for this week it was the republic, bks. 2 ways that it might: 1) accident of birth, the king has a son that is a philosopher 2) taking a philosopher and making them the ruler neither is very practicle. Philosophers are made rulers (see 499b c: plato thinks that it may be possible but it is unlikely, the construction of the kallipolis was really just an analogy.
