Goodlife: to be sociable rational and equal, non exploitative economic system, without false consciousness, which political institution will allow this. Social construction: how do we get out of this. Systematic: his socialism is applicable in all eras and all societies, neutral, not favouring one idea over another. Ideas are not the most important thing: the material basis of reality is the reality of scientific socialism. Strips away inessentials to focus on the basics of being human: we need stuff. Food, clothing, shelter: cant do without them. Societies become more complicated in the means of production: moving from simple - advanced economy, division of labour, productivity increases. Laborer inevitably produces class conflict resulting in change: this is why he is called an economic determinist or technological determinist. Four stages of history (with one to come) Succeed each other: tribal/ asiatic/ primitive communist. Legal system, religion, philosophy: we see super structure as reality which is a misperception/false consciousness.
