Plato believes we born a certain way but we are affected by society. Factors of human nature according to plato. Exists beyond physical (separate from body)and is immortal. We get choice if our soul is ordered or not, if we act just or unjust. A bad polity can make it difficult for you to make good decisions. Our actions matter -> have consequences in afterlife. After hades, you come back to earth and choose what you are. People who have not learned lesson, people are attracted to flashy life -> king. Myth of err: odysseys choses to be peasant. You chose your destiny even before you are born. If you chose what you were before, you did not gain any wisdom. Believes in gods and they are good, definition of god is good. Hesiod: gods live in bas soap opera, rival to homer. If creature does something bad, they are not gods.
