Lead to the creation of agenda 21: 2002: world summit on sustainable development (wssd) Sustainable development: a form of development in which meeting the needs and rights of the present generation is not achieved at the expense of the needs and rights of the future generation . Humans are utterly dependent upon vulnerable to changes in their relationships with the non human world . Gap between rich and poor is getting bigger: economic globalization creates and maintains unsustainable patterns of production and consumption, neoliberal global economic framework, human rights abuses. Lower environmental standard in order to become more competitive with other states: shell, gas flaring releases poisoness gases. Double standard between the west and the rest.
