Most basic level is atom - treats them as permanent and everlasting. Atoms have tendency to drop and will bump into other atoms - send them off in different directions - certain predictability. Leads to possibility of determinism (you are determined by last atom that hit you, no freedom) - no choice. We can predict what is going to happen. Everything about reality (soul and humans) are pre determined. Certain amount of choice in atoms - sometimes they swerve. Not a determinist - believes in free will. Gods have substance, made of atoms, immortal, far away. Constitute a model for human life, no worry. Free from worry and pain - that"s how we should try to live. Do not have much to do with us. Soul is made of atoms but is not immortal. When we die, atoms scatter and continue to exist but are no longer whole. No after life - death is the end.
